DRUG-RELATED PROBLEMS AND ITS PRESCRIBING INDICATORS IN STROKE PATIENTS: A PROSPECTIVE OBSERVATIONAL STUDY

Objective: The objective of the study was to assess drug-related problems (DRPs) and World Health Organization (WHO) core prescribing indicators among stroke patients.
 Methods: A prospective observational conducted inpatients Acute Medical Care General Medicine Department a tertiary care hospital located in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, India. suitable data collection form used collect about demographics, clinical characteristics, WHO indicators, DRPs. Descriptive statistics were represent distribution DRPs, study. Chi-square test employed significant association between demographics occurrence DRPs.
 Results: Among 174 patients included study, 89 had one or more total 122 DRPs identified population. Drug interactions (48.4%) adverse drug reactions (ADRs) (17.2%) commonly observed direct number comorbidities (p<0.001), polypharmacy stay (p<0.05). average drugs per prescription 7.2. Of prescribed, 67.6% their generic names. percentage encounters which an antibiotic, injection prescribed 65.5% 89.6% respectively. from essential list 91.2%.
 Conclusion: rate ADRs high treatment patients. Patients suffering comorbidities, polypharmacy, long positively associated with stroke. Regular monitoring screening for advised reduce burden admitted critical unit.
